VMworld Day 2

Day started out with a great keynote announcing the launch of VMware View 4.5, which has been one of the most anticipated announcements this year. Surprisingly, they also announced the acquisition of two companies – Integrien and TriCipher. VMware says in their news announcement which can be foundhere, that these are key additions to their vision for IT as a Service portfolio.

The lines for the breakout sessions were extremely long again and I found that I needed to leave sessions early to get in line at the next to get a seat. Again, this is the first year that they have done something like this and with the record number of attendees, I can see why.

With my blogger pass – I was also able to get into the press room where Scott Davis was briefing the press on the View 4.5 launch. I have video of the conversation and will post it later. I will tweet the update, so check back.

After lunch, I made my way to the solutions exchange and had some great technical conversations with a few vSpecialists at the EMC booth and talked with a number of VMware employees at the brian bar. I also talked with some vBlock specialists about design considerations – great stuff, especially from a support standpoint.

After the solutions exchange, I made my way to the blogger’s lounge where they were doing a live broadcast and got to talk with John Troyer briefly.

VMware Labs followed the lounge conversation and managed to head back to my hotel before the festivities started for the evening.

Like always, I managed to snap a few photo’s off yesterday:
